This natural crystal stone can be used both as a deodorant, after shave and a soother for burnt, irritated skin.
As an alternative to conventional deodorants, alum stone is 100 % natural and contains pure potassium alum mineral salts extracted from a natural quarry. Alum stone is also known for its astringent and mildly antiseptic properties. By soothing razor burn, irritated skin and even stopping micro-cuts from bleeding, alum stone has been long used as an aftershave and is equally essential for men as women.
The stone is soluble in water, so moisten it and gently massage the targeted areas, such as legs, face and armpits. An invisible film of mineral salts is formed. It regulates perspiration and helps to prevent the development of bacteria, the first cause of unpleasant smells. After electric or manual shaving it will sooth the skin nicely.
You can find alum stones, or crystal stones, in natural health shops and online. Be aware that the clear transparent stones are the natural ones, and the opaque white ones are synthetic. I found mine in a market in Nice this Summer :)
