So, imagine a rainy Sunday afternoon and the shops are closed. Or you´re stuck at home with the kids, or perhaps working long hours, with neither energy nor time to hit town for your favourite lippie. Maybe you really fancy that one eyeshadow, which is only available from the other side of the world, but there´s no trip in sight. Wanna kill time doing some spending, but can´t be asked to leave the house? Online shopping has become a hobby and a habit for many a beauty junkie. Just not me. Here´s my view on it, and some of the most popular online shops!
Some of my readers have requested a list of recommended online beauty stores. To be completely frank with you, the only things I have ever bought online are concert tickets and books and DVD's from Amazon, so I have absolutely no personal experience or advice to give. I am one of those who actually like touching, smelling and trying something before I buy. I like picking the staff's brain for tips and tricks and knowledge. I like leaving the store knowing that the product is in my bag, fresh, undamaged and ready to use. More importantly, supporting the local independent stores rather than cheap, international online shops, especially at the times of financial crisis, is something we all could make better effort doing. And by getting to know the staff, you are also more likely to receive better service (less pushy, yes please!) and go home with a few extra samples in your bag ;)
I do like using online stores for window-shopping and for keeping myself updated, but after hearing stories and reading negative reviews about damaged deliveries, overly ripe products (to put it nicely), no shows etc, I have consequently steered away from purchasing perfumes and creams online. I question the quality of the product that is sent, I question the cheap prices and, unlike many eager online shoppers, I can´t stand the wait after the order has been made. When I shop, I either want to have it straight away, as in NOW, or I spontainously browse and buy while waiting for the train or my next meeting.
However, I have done some research for you! Here´s a list of online beauty stores; both norwegian webshops plus some of the most popular international online beauty shops. Cause if the next trip is too far away and you desperately want your hands on the latest Nars or butter London Nail Polish - from one beauty junkie to another: of course you need to get it. And if it pours down outside and only the absent waterproof mascara will make you leave the house, well, to me that's a pretty damn good excuse to order it online and stay indoors watching films until it arrives! (PS. Order from national webshops and it will get to you sooner! ;)
