Hiya! Sincere apologies for have gone AWOL the last couple of months. The reason for this is simply: not enough hours in a day. I´ve always thought it´s better to not post anything at all than a million bad posts, but still I feel terribly guilty for letting my valuable readers down. I have attached photographic evidence to justify the last months of silence, and hope that you guys are willing to return to the Beauty-boks pages every week. I promise I´ll be good again :)

Last Thursday, 28 June, was a very special day. We were a group on Scandinavian and Baltic journalists and bloggers who were invited to the opening of the very spectacular, outdoor exhibition 'Northern Women in Chanel' - a collaboration between the French couture house and the visionary duo Peter Farago and Ingela Klemetz-Farago. It was 24 gorgeous hours from start to finish down by the sunny cliffs of Tjøme, Norway.

I tried out the new cream blushers/ highlighters from Youngblood during London Fashion Week. With unanimous thumbs up from the other Makeup Artists on the shows, I can confirm that these are some of the best products in this category at the moment. I also used my favourite colour, Champagne Life, to highlight Agnes' cheekbones on Tuesday's shoot (opening photo). Put it this way: if we can be exempt from counting Champagne in units, let's make it part of our everyday lives!

I've been practising various makeup application techniques for a while now. I guess it kind of kicked off the day I accidentally left all my brushes at home, forcing me to get out of my comfort zone and work in a new, scary way using everything but my favourite tools. Since then I have also got myself an airbrush machine - a magic toy which makes me feel like a grown up kid and a proper artist at the same time. That's the best thing about being a Makeup Artist; you don't stagnate cause there's always new products, textures, colours, tools, inspiration and things to explore and learn. And by making mistakes one can only make progress! I don't often get to play around with my airbrush using wild, vivid colours and shapes, but when I do, I'm in seventh heaven. Here are some photos :)

In my family, Easter is sacred on the same level as Christmas. We pack comfy clothes, slippers and drive for 1 1/2 hours to the cabin where we spend days doing absolutely nothing apart from read books, play Yatzy, listen to radio P2 and eat too much food. Most of this is happening outside in dad´s snow castle leeward if Mr. Weather allows us. And then later, over dinner, for dessert and before goodnights we comment on each others tan, whether it's there or not, who's got most and so on and so forth. I always lose the catch a tan game because, A: I think God forgot pigment upon my creation, and B: (Therefore) I always use protection. But I am a very happy loser.

In 1936, René Gruau (1909-2004) met co-illustrator Christian Dior on the fashion desk of the French newspaper Le Figaro, where they both worked. They had similar upbringings, kindred spirits and became close friends, and when Christian Dior launched his New Look in 1947, he turned to Gruau to illustrate his haute couture designs. This is where one of the most fruitful relationships in illustration history began.
